| Thanks for the email since i last posted i had some good feedback on the Romany jib website and have a lot more info my GGGG Grandfather John Clarke and the Clarkes from Gloucester. He married a Anna Smith from Stowe in the wold in 1797 his son William married a Sarah who surname was Archer which ive since learnt were also known as Orchards around 1838,William was an Agricultural labourer also a Coal Dealer and a normal Labourer who did Gaol in Gloucestershire in 1851 for Larceny(Theft) he seems to travel between Morton in Marsh and Tetbury but i beleave was born in Bristol. His son James was a Horse Groom travelling between Stow,Chipping norton and Hook norton working out of the Inns caring for the Horses.Im told the Clarkes are still in Stow and Married into the Lock,Buckland,Davis and Shepherd Families.Although ive found out about my Great Nans family going back i dont know anything about the Clarkes such as her sisters and brothers and other Clarkes from 1910 onwards, so any info on the present day Clarkes would be much appreciated by anyone and hopefully maybe i may be able to link my Family to them.Once again thanks alot all the best Duncan |

| My maternal great grandmother, Gertrude Smith Clarke, came from Smethwick (sp?) and her brother, John Smith Clarke (can be found in Wikipedia) came from a family that had been in the circus. Gertrude went on to marry my great grandfather, Ephraim Levy from whom my Grandmother, Esther Sarah Levy Solomons was born. I'd really like to know other Smith Clarkes related to this family. Gail |
