Hello all, sorry that i have not been on here for a very long time. I have just recently got a new computer as my old one broke but i have been away working and had no real need for one. The Travellers site in between Catworth & Molesworth in Cambridgeshire has been given the go ahead. Much to the anger of the local community. I think i was the only person from the surrounding villages that actually offered support for the site to go ahead. I wrote a letter of disgust to the local paper on why locals are so ignorant and un supportive. I cant believe that in this day and age there is still so much hatred towards fellow human beings. The council has stated the site can only be for 4 years and then they have to appeal again. They are only allowed 10 pitches with 2 homes on each pitch and no vechicles over 3.5 tonne. Also a sewage system must be put in place. I dont think i made much difference to the result of the appeal but i did offer support and refused to sign all the partitions that have been sent round. The locals even held up a banner at the council meetings "JUST SAY NO" which made me feel very ashamed to be in the local community. Still, its done now and maybe people can get on and live as a friendly community. Sean:) |

| Hello Sean, good to hear from you. Well done with the site, remind the comunity that Mother Teresa and Elvis were travellers! That should shut them up for a while! Catch up with you later, Lyz |

| Hello Lyz, hope you are well. It is good news, sadly the site is very over grown and a bit run down but it should not take long to get back to how it was. Some vandals have damaged the main gates and some of the new fencing that was erected by the owners. Someone even stole the sign that was put up by the families. I think it will look very nice once it is finished, it also brings more trade to the local shop/post office and the local pubs. The bonus is, it makes a bigger community. |

| Hi Sean, lets hope people will leave them alone. Also lets hope pubs and shop keepers don't ban them, there is a pub around here which says NO TRAVELERS, terrible, I can think of a much more nasty breed of person. Yep, wer'e ok, thanks, we were expecting the new doors and windows to be started today but it was too wet, don't think the rest of the week will be much better! Boring! I want to start the decorating! Lyz |

Hi all,
I am pleased to hear about the site. I was activaly involved in the questionair that helped get government figures to how many sites are needed. By 2010-2012 each council now has site provision to provide by government order. This will help the people who has helped shaped England in many possative ways. Lets face it Romany-Gypsys are the last ethnic people to be counted and helped. It's all good news

I know that i am not from Traveller decent and i dont really have a place or a right to make it my business but i do genuinly care. I know i can never feel or suffer the predjeduse that any Travelling community has. I can only compare the negative attitude i get from all the people i tell my opinions to. The hate and anger is all around. Everyone in the village is of a stereotyped opinion that all Travellers are bad, i say there is good and bad in all walks of life. I am no saint and i have done many bad things, as well as good things. Am i different or more special than anyone else? I dont think so. I will stop going on about it now as it just makes me cross but i will let you know if there is any change. Thankyou for making me feel welcome after my absence, i have had a good run of work around the country and now i have a long term contract in St.Ives, Cambridgeshire so i hope to be on here a lot more. Thankyou Sean. |

Hi Sean,
Makes no ounce of difference to me what creed, culture or religion any one is. It's all down to exseptance and respecting other's differences. I understand your getting cross, I do all the time when I hear and sence negative attitudes towards disabled people. I, like your self defend them as I have been taught the same as you believe.....there's good and bad in all. I am affraid I have herd it said many a time that disabled people want pitty. I can assure other's most of them do not. But still I think the biggest devide between humans are the small minded who can not think for them selves, out of the box and the rest of us who are 'Gypsy' (free) in mind!
All the best |

YOUR AS GOOD AS THE NEXT BUT NO BETTER. I will remember this saying for as long as i live. I think it sums up for everyone. It is nice to look at the many people who think they are better than me, now i can look at them different. Thankyou for the reply Tilly. I have a forum friend who is disabled, she never told me she was disabled until a few days ago becuase she thought my opinion my change towards her. Not because she thought i was a bad person but she said it was because everyone treats her different when they meet her. Why should my feelings change. She is a kind and warm person. Romaniangel. Thankyou. Sean :) Shahnee, nice to meet you too and thankyou. Sean. A question i would like answered is. How can a God fearing community preach and attend church. Stand in the house of God and worship, in there eyes, a right and just world. Then when they leave church they turn into bigots and hypocrites, greed for money and then judge a Family for wanting to move onto there own land. I really am having trouble coming to terms with how the world is turning into such a nasty place. |

| Do you know what Sean? "The good and bad 'saying' springs back into my mind when reading re' church goer's. This is true in my own culture also. Born again christains, the Gypsy people, can sing and clap in church then live a totally different life untill the next church meeting. It's a case of not becomming the judge of another, One of lifes hardest things (in my opion) is to stay humble. As a perent I can look at others and note their wrong doings in my mind. Whilst I am an out spoken person when offering an un asked for opinion, I still correct my self in remaining grounded that I am no better a perent than any one else, its just I leave my self open to always wanting to learn more and never commend my self for being good at any thing! I tend to think I am ok and want to do better. I am affraid we shall always easily find others who are so far up their own chad's they allow them selves no room for improvment - which is fine but then in the things that are wrong they shall ever remain wrong. Don't threat over others that seem nasty, just take on board a mantle note of never allowing your self to be that way. Thats what I try to do and I say try because its not easy, lol. |

Thankyou Tilly for your meaningful words. I understand what you mean and how you feel. I too am a parent but i think i am sometimes over protective of them. I am guilty of judging other people on how they bring there children up, i dont mean to be like that. Who am i to say how people should act. I have learnt a lot these last few years and i think i have fianally grown up, well i am 39 now:laugh::laugh::laugh: Hope you have a great weekend, are you up to anything. Sean. |

Sean - Tilly is right - there is good and bad in everyone.
The fact is that life has hypocrites and all of us are guilty of hypocracy at some part in our lives - generally as children and then we learn. The important thing is not to get too wound up about hypocrites - just to not be one yourself - and then at least you know that you, personally cannot be condemned as one!
I feel like i am repeating Tilly here - but i always think "judge not, lest ye be judged" - so each time i get angry or dissapointed in another's behaviour i try, though it dosn't always work, to say that to be objective, i may not do as they do, but i as i don't walk in thier shoes, how do i know them?
Understanding these people is hard - but to coin another phrase "there but for the grace of God go I" - better to be glad that you are not that way then to worry why they are the way they are, if that makes any sense?
As a parent myself, i understand where you are coming from on the the way others bring up their children - just yesterday we were shopping and a little child of two was nagging her mum - as they do! The mother turned around and told her child bluntly that if she didn't shut up that she would punch her in the mouth and by her tone it was obvious she meant it! My husband and myself stood there in absolute shock - an we wem't the only ones!! We couldn't believe our ears - all my husband would say "well, if that child grows up to disrespect her, she shoudn't be surprised!".
Children learn by example - so as long as you set them a good example then then you have done a good job - i think your example of care and consideration for your fellow man is a great example to them - no matter how "over-protective" you may think you are.
Have a great weekend, all the best to you, Shahnee
